Madam Akua Afriyie, a Kumawu National Democratic Congress member, has been expelled for openly endorsing NPP Flagbearer hopeful Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen. Despite her NDC affiliation, she expressed admiration for Alan, leading to her removal following the viral video of her support during the Kumawu by-election. In the video, she declared that if Alan were the NPP’s 2024 flagbearer, she would willingly vote for him, citing his visionary potential to uplift the country and provide hope for the youth.
She has now become a prominent topic in political discussions, drawing attention from various quarters, especially within political circles. The NDC did not respond positively to her statement.
After receiving a dismissal letter, Akua Afriyie stated that she is currently an independent voter and no longer affiliated with either the NDC or NPP. She emphasized her strong support for Mr. Kyerematen.
She has warned that if the NPP does not select Mr. Kyerematen to lead the party, she will abstain from participating in the 2024 elections.
Meanwhile, the constituency delegates’ gathering for the Kumawu, Afram Plains, and Effiduase Asokore constituencies was well-attended. Delegates pledged their dedication to ensuring Alan’s victory in the presidential primary.
The delegates unanimously affirmed that the perceptive citizens of Ghana are now wide awake and will not permit any surprises.
They argued that it is now Alan’s rightful moment to guide the party, and no obstacles should hinder his path this time around.
