Jonathan Nkunim not a member of Allied Health Professionals, says AHPC

Jonathan Ohene Nkunim was arrested after an exposé by TheFourthEstate showed how he sexually abused women.

The Allied Health Professional Council (AHPC) has disassociated itself from Jonathan Ohene Nkunim, the self-acclaimed psychologist who has been arrested for sexually exploiting women.

The suspect, who was arrested after an exposé by TheFourthEstate showed how he took advantage of women who went to his “medical facility” to seek medical attention.

Dr Samuel Yaw Opoku, registrar, AHPC, revealed that his outfit is working with the police to take appropriate actions against Jonathan Nkunim and other fraudsters.

“We want to assure the general public that the law will take its course as far as Jonathan Nkunim’s case is concerned.

“Currently, we are working closely with the CID to ensure that any other quack professionals will be handled by the law,” he said.

Dr Opoku further entreated the public to check the backgrounds of health practitioners and report any suspicious activities to the council for the necessary actions to be taken.

The Allied Health Professional council is the statutory body established under the Health Professionals Regulatory Bodies Act, 2013 to regulate the training and practice of Allied Health Professionals.

The AHPC oversees the schedule of Allied Health Professions which include, Audiology, Nutrition, Dietetics, Disease Control, Oral health among others.
