Akufo-Addo expresses Ghana’s readiness to collaborate with Portugal in addressing common challenges

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has affirmed Ghana’s commitment to collaborating with Portugal in addressing the nation’s challenges. During his state visit to Portugal, President Akufo-Addo announced the signing of an agreement with the Portuguese government, focusing on intelligence assistance to combat extremism in West Africa.

The President emphasized the significance of this partnership, particularly in the face of the ongoing turmoil in West Africa originating from the Sahel region. He assured President de Sousa of Ghana’s dedication to working hand in hand with Portugal to find solutions to various issues, including the eradication of poverty, addressing insecurity and human rights violations, tackling terrorism, and countering violent extremism.

President Akufo-Addo embarked on his official visit to Portugal on Monday, and he is scheduled to continue his travels to Italy. There, he will serve as the keynote speaker for the European Corporate Council on Africa and Middle East (ECAM) Annual Summit, taking place from July 23rd to 24th. Additionally, he will meet with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni to discuss matters of mutual interest between the two countries.
